Social Media research

HELLOOOOO, back again starting the week off strong by introducing my social media research!! Before I start i would like to clarify the short film idea. I got it wrong in my last post, oops.. ANYWAY the final idea is still going to involve a guy teleporting with a penny but this time when he teleports he tries to do a good deed but something always goes wrong every time. Now that we have that cleared up lets discuss the actual research.

While researching I realized comedy content spreads fast when it's shareable especially on apps such as Instagram. Knowing this I found overall trends across platforms. Creators normally utilize short clips (15-30 seconds) that tease a joke or awkward moment without spoilers. They also often use eye catching thumbnails ,engaging captions, and also targeted hashtags such as #FunnyShorts.

Some real examples that I have analyszed have been maxdefalco, minute.shorts, longstoryshortfilms, all acounts found on instagram. For maxdefalco the content primarly centers on his own short films, feature projects, and festival updates. Some posts include stills, behindvthe scenes, premiere announcements, and tagged collaborations/credits. He often promotes through links in bio for watching films (YouTube, Short of the Week, etc.).

Hashtags are also ultized heavly targeted as well as callst o action like "Watch now Link in bio".

Continuing witht the next account, minute.shorts, this account runs a short film streaming service, promoting indie shorts across all genres, including plenty of comedy. They promote through quick reels that tease full films or series and release announcements. Posts often include trailers, stills, key scenes, and strong calls to action ("Submit your shorts," "Download our app," "Watch now – link in bio"). They also use consistent hashtags like #minuteshorts #shortfilms #indiefilms #shortmovies #comedy to increase discoverability,

Lastly, longstoryshortfilms primarly focuses on  short movies. They use teasers + BTS, have consistent aesthetic and also  have their email/contact for collabs. Although I don't understand what the actors are saying, the overall page and how is structured has given me inspiration on how my social media page should be.
