Group meeting #2

Today in class we had our second ever group meeting, we got placed into 4 different groups with each group having 6 members. Our teacher decided for us to have another group meeting in order for us to discuss any issues that we have been facing as well as providing feedback to our classmates helping them grow and strengthen their project.

    I was the first person in my group to go. I presented all the shots that me        and my partner filmed last week as well as the poster card that we made. It     still wasn't finished but I showed it on purpose like that in order to get any       feedback on what we could've done better regarding the post card. One         of my group members asked me if I had finished filming. I said no,                  explained in my last blog post, then he laughed and felt relieved because he too hasn't finished filming.

    

After finishing discussing the issues and where I'm at in the project,                  Mariana was next to present her ideas. Mariana started off by reminding          our group what her project is about (Therapy session flashback). She later     explained how once she and her partner started filming and realized that it was bad, not my words they said it themselves. But after filming they realized that they also needed to fix the script as well and that's one of the reasons the film seemed bad. Another issue that they faced was that their lead actor couldn't show up any of the days and was unreliable, so in order to get past this they decided to change the genders of the main character from a male to a female. However they have managed to push through and are estimated to finish filming this later this week

The next member followed, they started to explain how they had already finished the teaser and also already created the instagram page but were just waiting to post their images. After discussing what they have completed they wanted feedback on their postcard, with that all of us gave him some critique with some of the font choices. Later on he also showed us the first seconds of the film and wanted further critiques in order to enhance his project. He also told the group that he wrote the score for the short film, which is honestly amazing. 

We moved onto the next person who opened up telling us how she filmed during spring break. She later showed what she had done regarding the posters and asked what she could do in order to improve it. Upon this one the group members gave advice on where the title card should be and what color it should be. She later shared that she's basically done with filming and only has a small portion left to film.

 

The next member had a lot of problems over spring break. He explains how he needed to change the script multiple times due to the script not sounding good enough, well not authentic like a normal conversation. His group also had to change their ideas multiple times, which was very problematic. However his group has posted a lot on insta and are estimated to finish filming today, they only have to do two more scenes.  

The last member of group started to explain his short film and how its going. He explains how the work is being distributed and what each person is doing. He also brings up how the group was initially behind but have managed to catch up regarding their filming, only needing one more scene. The last thing he covered was showing his groups postcards and going into detail on why he decided to implement the certain elements that are being showcased in the postcard. 

That was everyone, making me a little excited on how these projects will turn out. Ill keep you guys updated, BYEEEE!!!

Some complications with the filimging schedule

I CAME BACK FROM EUROPEEE!! Well I'm kinda sad, I really enjoyed being in europe but disregarding that me and my partner have had some complications regarding being able to follow our filming schedule. That major issue being that we both have jobs. Before creating the schedule we figured out days where we both free from our work as well as personal plans. However things changed.

On one of our filming days I got called in since my job barely had any people working, and it was during prime filming hours 2-10:30. The other day that me and my partner were scheduled to film something came up and she couldn't make it to film. 

However me and my partner have both freed up our schedule in order to film the rest of the scenes by this week. These scenes including the one in Brickell, The everglades, as well as Weston Town Center. I espically need to get this filming done so I can get a hair cut, I wish I wasn't the one that had to be the actor. 

I'll keep you guys updated on if we actually follow through with our filming schedule now, BYEE!!

Second Day FILMINGGG!!

Second Day of Filiming and at this point social anxiety should be scared of me. Reason for why im saying this is because the sher amount of people that were taking pictures of me and looking at me while filming is crazy, like guys I get it you all want a piece of David Gomez (what am I saying I got made fun of TWICE IN 2 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES).

    Anyway we filmed in Madrid Spain, more specifically we filmed in the Plaza Mayor, we as in my mom being the cinemotagopher and me the actor. However this time we needed another person to act since my sister already acted in the last one, there only remained one more person, the person being my dad. Look I love my dad as any great son does but WORKING WITH HIM REGARDING ACTING wow, I think It took us 14 tries to finally get it right.

Eventually we got the scene right, finally seeing the filming day come to an end and my finger slips leading me to FLIP THE COIN WRONG AGAIN. I couldn't believe it, my worst nightmare came back to hunt me. THAT COIN IS ACTUALLY THE MOST ANNOYING  THING EVER. Sometimes it chooses to be well you know normal coin and other times it decieds to be devious and FLIP THE WRONG WAY, and before you blame me for flipping it wrong I truely believe that european coins are just weird. 

I completly forgot to mention but after getting off the flight from London I LOST MY PENNY. I immeditly started searching frantically but nothing came up, defeated I didn't know what to do, didn't know how to break the news to my partner that I basically messed it up. Well the next day I found a random copper coin on the floor on my way to go watch Real Madrid play so it all pretty much worked out because I went to a soccer game. 

Thats all the filming that I will be doing in europe, rest will be in Florida back home, can't wait to finsh filming. 

First day Filming!!!

FINALLY DID MY FIRST DAY OF FILMING!!! Did I have a lot people stare at me, yes.. BUTTTT at least I got it done. Since my partner was obviously not gonna be with me I had my mom film. The location where I first shot was in London England right infront of the mighty Big Ben.

While filming I faced some challeges, one being since it was actually freezing in London my fingers werent working properly and wow GETTING THAT STUPID COIN TO FLIP PROPERLY was one of the hardest things I had to do. I literally had acted out the whole scene and then I would FAIL that stupid coin flip, so annoying. Second problem, well not really a problem more of a thing that I want to disscuss and the amount of people that were staring at me, I felt so famous, they probally just wanted an autograph with how cool and amazing I looked.(They definitely were making fun of me).

    A thing that I kept making sure was for the framing to have me in the center, In order for the transitions to be seemlesses it was so important for me to always have me be in the center frame. I kept making sure my mom had me center, I was definitely annoying her with the amount of times I kept asking if I was centered. 

But overall it was a great first day of filming I keep you guys updated when I film next, so exited!!

Group Meeting #1

 HELLOO ONCE AGAIN, yesterday we had our first group meeting, disscussing what we were planning on doing with our fellow classmates as well as helping eachother with any issues that we had during our planning of the producttion. 

The first member who shared their ideas was Nikitta, he wants to do a short film about a guy who is becoming bored with his life and turns to drugs after seeing his friend do it and having a good time while doing it. The guy starts to skip work in order to do the drugs and later becomes so addicted that he later dies due to an over dose. He also wants to center the film during the 2000s. When I first heard about this I was complitly in shock as its such a deep and depressing film idea that is coming from a person who is such full of life. 

The second member to share their ideas was Nico, he wants to do a short film as well. The overview of the plot is basically the main character has the abllity to break the 4th wall and obviouly with this power he has sort of an ego because no one else can see what he can see. Untill another character notices and also has the ablity to break the 4th wall, realizing this the main character gets mad. His main inpiration for this idea came from the show flee bag as well as Ferris Day Off. 

The next member was Mal, who wants to do a dark comedy short film.  The short film follows a women who is power hungry so in search of more power she decieds to make a deal with the devil. He also mentioned that at the end of the story the womens sister gets killed by the main character. The Devil would be showcased as a normal male named Anti chrisotpher. The whole idea is very unique and never in a million years would I expect a plot like that. 

Continuing on the following memeber was Lauren insted of doing the short film like almost every she decied to do the film distribution one. She wants to do a physioclogical drama with heavy inspiration from the black swan. Lauren however doesnt have a solid plan regarding the plot but wants to have the main character have a soft image who later transitions to a darker character. 

Next from that was Audrey, who is doing a short film. The film would be taking place during a therapy session. It follows a younger brother who is very outgoing and likes to party because stuff at home isnt the best so inoder to distract himself from it he keeps himself busy. He also has a older sister whos is about to go to college and cant deal with the family anymore but is staying to help her brother. The brother makes a mistake at a party and the sister from then on decied to leave leaving the brother helpless and needing help, leading him to go to the therapy session. 

Lastly the final member went, she decied on doing a short film aswell following the coming of age genre. It follows a girl in her second semster of highschool who gets gifted a seed in a pot, she forgers about the flower and continues on with her day, the majority of the film would be getting filmed through the persepective of the plant witnessing the girl get ready for school, prom, graduation, etc.. She also wants to get different plants at differnet stages in order to hightlight the change in time. 

All these projects are so creative, can't wait to see how my classmates excute this!

Shooting Schedule

HELLOOO AGINN, today we will be disscussing what days me and partner have decieded on filming. Since I'm leaving to Europe (very excited) for spring break we disccused and figured out that these dates would be best for us. We also decieced to finsh filming before spring break in order to have enought time editing.

Filming schedule 

(Big Ben)

Our first day of filming will be March 11 during that time I would be in London. Im planing on filming near big ben in order to signify to the audience that I am in fact in London. I will be probally filming near a bridge making sure that beautiful big ben is in the frame. When filming in london I will be ultilizing my sister as an actor portraying as one of the individuals that I will be helping.

The second film dates would be march 12-13, at that time I would be in Madrid. The place where I will be filming in Madrid would be Plaza Mayor. Its one of the most recongonizble places in Madrid. As for the actor that I would use I would use my dad who would exclusivly be talking to me in spanish, helping further push the idea that I'm in Spain. 

I come back the 17th so the rest of the filming will be done with my partner #teamwork,

The thrid day of filming will be on the 18th, on this day we will be filming the intro to our short film,
where the main character would find the coin and also during this we will be showcasing how the main character is a horrible person. We also plan on filming in the everglades as one of the places to film for the teleportation location.

And for the last day of filming March 19 we are planning on going to Brickell City Center in Miami, another famous location that a lot of the viewers would know. 

For all of these loctions me and my partner focused on locations where anyone could look and immidatly know where it is located, making the teleportation aspect very prominant. 

Social Media research

HELLOOOOO, back again starting the week off strong by introducing my social media research!! Before I start i would like to clarify the short film idea. I got it wrong in my last post, oops.. ANYWAY the final idea is still going to involve a guy teleporting with a penny but this time when he teleports he tries to do a good deed but something always goes wrong every time. Now that we have that cleared up lets discuss the actual research.

While researching I realized comedy content spreads fast when it's shareable especially on apps such as Instagram. Knowing this I found overall trends across platforms. Creators normally utilize short clips (15-30 seconds) that tease a joke or awkward moment without spoilers. They also often use eye catching thumbnails ,engaging captions, and also targeted hashtags such as #FunnyShorts.

Some real examples that I have analyszed have been maxdefalco, minute.shorts, longstoryshortfilms, all acounts found on instagram. For maxdefalco the content primarly centers on his own short films, feature projects, and festival updates. Some posts include stills, behindvthe scenes, premiere announcements, and tagged collaborations/credits. He often promotes through links in bio for watching films (YouTube, Short of the Week, etc.).

Hashtags are also ultized heavly targeted as well as callst o action like "Watch now Link in bio".

Continuing witht the next account, minute.shorts, this account runs a short film streaming service, promoting indie shorts across all genres, including plenty of comedy. They promote through quick reels that tease full films or series and release announcements. Posts often include trailers, stills, key scenes, and strong calls to action ("Submit your shorts," "Download our app," "Watch now – link in bio"). They also use consistent hashtags like #minuteshorts #shortfilms #indiefilms #shortmovies #comedy to increase discoverability,

Lastly, longstoryshortfilms primarly focuses on  short movies. They use teasers + BTS, have consistent aesthetic and also  have their email/contact for collabs. Although I don't understand what the actors are saying, the overall page and how is structured has given me inspiration on how my social media page should be. 

Outline

HELLLOOO AGAINN, today we will be discussing the outline for the short film. Me and my partner decieded to follow through with a comedic short film. 

In class worked on outlining the full idea and story with my partner but before moving forward with anything else. I drew inspiration from Skipped (which I discussed earlier), structuring theshort film into three clear segments to keep the escalation tight and the pacing sharp.

The film begins with the main character being a a**hole towards people when he finally comes across a penny who speaks to him, reluctly our main character picks up the penny from the ground, once in its hand the penny wispers to the main charater asking it to filp it, teleporting to a whole different location where the coin reveals that he has to become a better person by doing kind acts in onrder to get back home.

Wanting to go home the main character starts to turn a new light where he tries to be better by doing . kind acts for people howver every time he tries to do something nice, it ends up backfiring (in a funny way). So each time he teleports somewhere new, he sees an opportunity to help someone, tries to do something kind, and then the situation goes wrong.

Even though things keep going wrong, he still keeps trying to help people. That is something I want to connect to the message of the film. I want the theme to show that kindness still matters even when things do not go perfectly.

At the end of the film, the main character teleports one last time and finally manages to complete a kind act without anything backfiring. When he tries to flip the coin again, nothing happens. The coin stops working. This is supposed to show the real point of the coin: it was there to push him to do something nice for someone. The film ends with him realizing that he does not need the coin anymore and that he can still help people even without the teleportation.

I'm really excited about how this is coming together, cant wait for the end product!!
